So, i've been doing the silver shroud quest line, and without going into too much detail, it's impossible to save him. All you have to do is ensure that he doesn't get caught in the crossfire or exploded then. Kill the enemies, then before you talk to kent type tai again and turn the ai back on then talk to him.
